WIN OUR DOLLS HOUSE

Every year in Thaxted we have an Advent Window event.  Each year there is a different theme and the shops and houses can join in and light up their windows with a display.  This years theme is 'A Child's Christmas', so to coincide with the theme, we have something a little special. 

My Mum has been renovating her own house, albeit slightly smaller and made of wood. She actually has two more of her own, all lovingly painted and furnished with all things miniature.  We bought the house on a buying trip back in the Autumn.  My Mum likes a challenge, so set about painting it.  As you can appreciate, a lot of time has been spent on it.

So when we heard the theme was 'A Child's Christmas', we knew it would be perfect in our shop window.  We also knew that someone would of course want to buy it, but after all the work my Mum had put into it, we had an idea.

Sadly my Dad died three years ago.  Today would have been his 80th Birthday. He spent the last week of his life in St. Clare Hospice where they cared for him.  My Mum, Sister and I pretty much lived there for that week and we really couldn't have coped without them, especially me.  They truly were amazing.  We often think about our time there and had always planned to go back, even just to say thank you, but it's really too difficult.  I drive down the M11 nearly every week to the plant wholesaler and think of my Dad and that journey we made every day.


So we would like to organise a raffle to win the Dolls House.  You can donate any amount, minimum suggested donation of £5 and the winner will be announced nearer to Christmas, we will set a date in due course.  We had thought on Christmas Eve, but that really wouldn't give anyone enough time to wrap it if they were hoping to give the house as a gift on Christmas Day. 

We are thrilled they have announced that we can open on 2nd December.  Raffle tickets will be on sale then if you can pop in the shop, we have also set up a Just Giving page. Please ensure you leave or send us your details. We only ask that you are able to collect the Dolls House from our shop in Thaxted.  

Please spread the word if you can, it really will be a special present for someone this Christmas and raise some funds for St. Clare's.
